New Hampshire has received an initial payment of close to $8 million from the 3M Company’s nationwide PFAS settlement of public drinking water systems claims. Funds will be deposited in the state’s drinking water and groundwater trust fund for distribution to public drinking water systems across the state. According to the Insurance Journal, Sept. 25, 2025 " The $8 million payment is the first installment of New Hampshire’s approximately $56 million allocation (before attorneys’ fees and litigation costs) of settlement funds from the first phase of the 3M settlement, with an additional allocation of funds scheduled sometime after 2026. A second, larger payment of the first phase is expected near the end of the year with subsequent smaller annual payments continuing through 2033."
The NH Dept. of Revenue has sent yellow postcards to a sample of Litchfield residences. See Below. This is a normal part of the assessment review process, they are evaluating that the assessor's have collected data correctly and we are valuating properties consistently.
A posting of the Town Hall Hours, below, has been posted on the website, and Town Hall. We will also include in the Newsletter.
Last year, Kevin Brown and I began working with CEI (Comprehensive Environmental INC) on the necessary reviews and assessment for compliance with the MS4 Permit. The first document below, the LID/GI regulatory assessment, we will be forwarding to the Planning Board for further discussion. The second document, the Operation and Maintenance O&M) Plan, is an internal document that outlines our operating procedures going forward. We would ask that the Board reviews them and lets us know of any concerns or changes you would like.
We are currently working on scheduling an information session with CEI on MS4/Stormwater changes to be hld the week of Nov. 17th. We will notify Boards, Commissions and departments in the event they would like to attend.
